This PD is for teachers Pre-K through grade 4. Teachers will gain an understanding of the Heggerty Curriculum, which provides fidelity with implementation of phonemic awareness skills, into daily literacy lessons cutting across all 3 tiers of instruction: Tier I, Tier II, or Tier III. Participants must bring their Heggerty books when attending the training. Training will be held in the LaCroft Library.
PD Goals: The Multisyllable Routine Cards provide direct and explicit instruction on how to apply knowledge and syllable types and divisions in order to read multisyllabic words. The first 10 people to sign up for this PD will receive a copy of the Multisyllable Routine Cards Book by: 95% Group Inc. and EL IPDP Approved totaling 3 hours (Professional Development Stipend of 2 hours). For two of the three hours, participants will complete two face-to-face sessions and agree to have Lorie Lubman to visit their classrooms to see how newly learned practices are used for the last hour of the three hours.

Participants must attend both the January 23 and the February 6 face-to-face PD sessions as well as embed MRC into 2 separate lessons in their classrooms:

This training is offered through the The Crisis Prevention Institute and will deliver nonviolent crisis intervention training designed to teach best practices for managing difficult situations and disruptive behaviors. Staff will learn how to identify at-risk individuals and use nonverbal and verbal techniques to defuse hostile or belligerent behavior. They will also learn how to control their fear and anxiety in a crisis and avoid injury when a crisis becomes physical. Please fill out the following form if interested. This professional development is a follow-up to the first professional development given in August and is intended to answer questions now that you have had a chance to implement the program.
